"O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord all the earth!" (Psalm 96:1)
Our Music Ministry at St. Jude's strives to support the assembly, provide musical commentary on the texts of the Mass, and reveal something of the eternal liturgy in heaven.
For more information about any of our programs, to plan funeral or wedding music, or to schedule a meeting/audition, please contact Barbara LaBelle, Director of Music, at [email protected] or call the parish office at 603-432-3333.Cantors: The cantor's function is to lead and encourage the assembly in singing. Often the cantor has the special task of drawing all present into the proclamation of the word of God through the Psalm. When acting in this capacity, the cantor functions as the psalmist. The cantor may also teach new music to the assembly, Special cantors also serve as leaders of the musical prayers at funerals, weddings and other sacramental rituals. Cantors need to be able to sing the text well with a pleasant voice. Cantors sing at the Saturday 4 pm, Sunday 8 am, and the Sunday 10 am Masses. Anyone interested should contact the Director of Music to schedule an interview/audition.
St. Jude Parish Choir: The St. Jude Parish Choir leads, supports and enhances the sung prayers of the assembly at the Sunday 10 am Mass, from mid-September through Pentecost Sunday. It is a mixed choir; all are volunteers who love to glorify God through song. The choir also sings at special liturgies and events throughout the year. Repertoire is drawn from the great treasury of sacred music, from the medieval period up through today's newest composers with inclusion in mind.
Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7 pm- 8:30 pm in the choir loft, and Sunday morning at 9 am, prior to the 10 am Mass. Anyone interested in joining the choir should contact the Director of Music to schedule a meeting/audition.
Instrumentalists: Instrumentalists can play for the Lord! The Sunday 10 am Mass has instrumentalists. Music reading is a necessary skill, as well as being experienced on your instrument. Rehearsal times are with the choir on Wednesdays at 7 pm, and Sunday morning at 9 am. Anyone interested should contact the Director of Music to schedule a meeting/audition.
