Special Needs classes are held at the church every other Monday from 4:30-5:30PM. Youth are accompanied by an adult or health aide. Each year the makeup of the group changes depending on the abilities, disabilities and the ages of the youth. This year there are three youth from thirteen to sixteen who are using music, videos, hands on tools and The Catholic Children’s Bible by St Mary Press for a bible study.   been enjoying a bible study.  We added a day of practical experience by taking the youth, with an adult accompanying them, to volunteer at the Sonshine Soup Kitchen in Derry, NH. The youth help prepare and then serve clients a hot meal. Both the youth and the clientele are enjoying the interaction while the youth are learning a practical way to live out the admonition to “feed the hungry”.

For youth preparing for the reception of the sacraments of First Penance/Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation we use the three Adaptive Preparation Kits for the sacraments from Loyola Press.

We started the program thirteen years ago in response to parents who requested religious education for their daughter who suffered from multiple birth defects and physical limitations. Yvie was in the first class with five other youth who received the sacraments of First Penance/Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation with Bishop John B McCormack presiding. Yvie went home to God at the age of ten and was in full communion with the church. Some of the youth were wheel chair bound while others were in constant motion on the Autism spectrum. They ranged in age from six to sixteen.

VBS Medical Form for Youth

Permission Slip for VBS Volunteers and Crew-Station/Leaders

Every summer for one week during the month of July, Monday-Friday from 9AM-12:30PM. It is open to youth of any denomination but is totally Catholic. We use Group’s VBS program with the Catholic component written by Our Sunday Visitor. It has been an incredible success over the years with youth who started out as attendees fourteen years ago returning from college to be leaders. We have found this to be a wonderful tool for evangelization.

VBS takes place July 11th through July 15th from 9:00AM – 12:30PM at St Jude Church. It is an exciting fun-filled, Bible-based program your kids will love. This year’s VBS theme is Cave Quest; Following Jesus, the Light of the World. The daily Bible Point is carefully integrated into each stations activity’s for unforgettable faith formation. At every stop kids learn and grow and have a grand time! Youth from 4 years of age (must be potty trained) to youth who will have finished 6th grade before VBS starts, join in as members of a Climbing Crew. Forms will be available in May on the Religious Education office door.
